Hartley & Hollyn
Here you will find cute doggy photos, training updates, tips and tricks I learn from my service dog trainer, reviews and pictures of gear from dog gear shops I like, my letters to my service dog in training, Hartley and more about my journey, training, and life in general with Hartley.
Launched in June 2018, Hartley and Hollyn is a place for those who love dogs, have service dogs or service dogs in training, or for anyone who wants to keep up with my journey with Hartley.
If you love cute dog pics, training tips and updates, and sentimental letters from a dog owner, you’ve come to the right place! Here at Hartley and Hollyn, you will get cute Hartley pics, training updates, tips and tricks I learn from my service dog trainer, recommendations for great dog gear shops, and personal letters I write to Hartley.
The series that started this blog is called Letters to Hartley. I began writing these letters from the night I officially decided on Hartley’s name and will continue writing them throughout Hartley’s training for the next couple of years. This blog will also contain training tips, tricks, and updates, gear shop reviews, cute Hartley pics, and more.
I am a first-time service dog owner and I will be using a professional service dog trainer to help train me on how to train Hartley to do all of the tasks I need to help mitigate my disability. This blog is about my and Hartley’s journey together. It starts from before I started fundraising for Hartley and continues through all of Hartley’s years of training. Please subscribe and follow along with us!
I’m Hollyn, Hartley’s mama, owner, and handler. I’m a 23-year-old young woman with disabilities. My disabilities range from autism, anxiety, and bipolar disorder, to conditions such as Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS), and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS). Over time, Hartley will be trained to do tasks that help me better manage and live well with these disabilities.
I love writing and keep another blog, called Zealous Zebra, about my life with my various conditions and disabilities. I love the color purple and have a major sweet tooth. I enjoy public speaking and being a mental health and chronic illness advocate. I also have companion dog, Hartley’s “older brother” Toby, who is a 9 year old Corgi/Australian Shepherd mix.
